There were many great ideas in the text that i found really interesting but the main ideas i am interested in are:

1) Ellies idea to blow up the lawn mower that killed the 3 soldiers.- Although she felt extremely guilty afterwards it was the right thing to do, they were being shot at and someone needed to take action. When it's a choice between saving your friends or letting the soldiers kill you, for the safety of your friends the right choice was to blow up the lawn mower.

2) The groups idea to fight back.- The group got back from a fun relaxing time only to realise that their families are missing. When they arrived at the showgrounds and saw their families they knew action needed to be taken to save them, Ellie knew it was up to her and her friends to save them.

3)The idea to blow up the bridge.- A smart, strategic move taken by Ellie and her friends. If they stopped the bridge it would get rid of most the unknown enemy. This move changed the story completely

If I was in Ellies shoes when she killed the 3 soldiers i'd deal with the situation by telling myself that it was in self defence and that they were shooting at my friends. It would still have an impact on my life, even though it was in self defence you'd still feel guilty for killing someone regardles of the reason.
